De Foundation is gevestigd in Kalimpong, India, in de uitlopers van de Himalaya. Sam is geboren en getogen in Kerala, in het zuiden van India. Hij werkte als predikant en ook bij een paar bedrijven. Ze hebben drie zonen: Joshua, Stephen en Joel.<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Karin is een getrainde verpleegkundig officier voor ontwikkelingslanden en heeft zich gespecialiseerd in de eerstelijnsgezondheidszorg. Ze groeide op in Drachten, Nederland, en voltooide haar opleiding tot verpleegkundige (HBO-V) in Groningen. In 1995 vertrok ze naar India na 7 jaar als gediplomeerd verpleegkundige te hebben gewerkt, waarvan de laatste vijf in Assen. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Zowel Sam als Karin hebben de wens om Tibetaans boeddhistische gemeenschappen te helpen. Ze begonnen samen te werken in 2001 in landelijke, afgelegen bergdorpen in India in de staat West-Bengalen en Sikkim. Aanvankelijk maakten ze deel uit van Jeugd met een Opdracht (JmeO).
